Dietrich School Neuroscience Faculty Member Elected to Council of ACNP

Professor Bita Moghaddam has been elected to the Council of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP), a leading professional society dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding of and facilitating communication about disorders of the brain and behavior in order to advance their prevention and treatment. Her three-year term will begin at the end of the ACNP annual meeting in December. 

Professor Moghaddam is the author of over 100 scientific papers in leading journals, including Science and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and her work has led to the discovery of the first non-monoamine targeting compound (targeting metabotropic glutamate receptors) for treatment of schizophrenia. Her research focuses on the use of animal models to study the cellular basis of cognitive constructs that are critical to psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia.
