Dietrich Professor Published in Science Advances

David Waldeck, a professor in the Department of Chemistry in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences along with researchers from the University of North Carolina were published in Science Advances on May 3rd. The study, titled “When Injecting Pure Spin into Chiral Materials, Direction Matters” looks at how the spin information of an electron, called a pure spin current, moves through chiral materials. The team discovered that the orientation of spin injection into the chiral materials influences their passage through them. These chiral “gateways” might pave the way for crafting energy-efficient gadgets for tasks like data storage, communication, and computing. You can read the full report on Science Advances.
