Eight Dietrich School Faculty Named “Most Valuable Professors” by Pitt Volleyball Student-Athletes

Dietrich School Faculty Invited by Student-Athletes to Attend Pitt Volleyball Match

Eight faculty members from the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh were invited by Pitt volleyball student-athletes to attend their match against UMBC at Fitzgerald Field House on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

The promotion, “Most Valuable Professors,” called for the student-athletes to invite their favorite faculty members to attend the match. Faculty were welcomed onto the volleyball court to take celebratory photos with the team following the match, which the Panthers won, 3-0.

Invited faculty from the Dietrich school included:

  • John Cantine, Film Studies Program – invited by Haiti Tautua’a (A&S ’27)
  • Mike Epitropoulos, Department of Sociology – invited by Torrey Stafford (A&S ’27)
  • Daniel Hatfield, Department of Linguistics – invited by Dalia Virlan (A&S ’28)
  • Susan Lucas, Urban Studies Program – invited by Blaire Bayless (A&S ’27)
  • Rob Ruck, Department of History – invited by Bianca Garibaldi (A&S ’28)
  • Kevin Smith, Film Studies Program – invited by Cat Flood (A&S ’24) and Haiti Tautua’a (A&S ’27)
  • Ashlee Wolfgang, Department of Psychology – invited by Dillyn Griffin (A&S ’26)

The Pitt volleyball team (10-0, 0-0 ACC) is ranked No. 1 in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
