Four Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences Juniors take home the 2nd place prize at the 2024 Emory Morningside Global Health Case Competition.
After winning Pitt’s intramural case competition in the fall, undergraduate juniors Cindy Le (biological sciences), Dylan Kurian (biological sciences), Christina Yi (nutrition sciences), and Lauren Angus (chemistry), were invited to represent the University of Pittsburgh at the Emory Global Health Institute. Competing against 30 other schools across seven countries and six continents, they were given one week to propose a comprehensive intervention to end tuberculosis in India, with a special focus on accelerating integrated care to tackle the country’s “twindemic” of tuberculosis and diabetes mellitus.
The case was released during Pitt’s spring break, giving them half the time to thoroughly research and plan a solution. They were also one of only three teams entirely comprised of undergraduate students, with most of their competitors being MPH candidates and medical students. The team of six secured the 2nd place title and its $3,000 cash prize. You can read more about the competition here.
