This year is the UNESCO International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, and to celebrate, the Pittsburgh Quantum Institute (PQI) and the Carnegie Science Center (CSC) are holding a joint event. The event, Real-World Quantum Mechanics, consists of a closed technical program with sessions that are open to the public and will take place on April 9 and 10 at the Carnegie Science Center.
There will be public lectures from guests, including William D. Phillips from the University of Maryland, Travis Humble from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and many more. Pitt, Carnegie Mellon, and Duquesne Graduates are also welcome to join in a poster competition.
The public sessions are free to attendees, and the technical programs are free to all PQI members who are early bird registrants. Non-PQI members will have to pay a registration fee. Breakfast and lunch will be provided both days.
For more information, like other lecturers, how to sign up for the poster competition, where to stay, and how to get there, you can visit the PQI event website. To register for the event, you can click here.
