Michelle Ward Wins American Chemical Society WCC Award

Michelle Ward, a teaching associate professor and Director of Undergraduate Analytical Chemistry Laboratories in the Department of Chemistry in the Dietrich School just received the ACS Pittsburgh Women’s Chemistry Committee (WCC) Award for Encouraging Women into the Chemical Sciences. The Award recognizes her “long history of tireless leadership which includes writing grants to support women in the chemical sciences, organizing, and executing social functions, educational outreach, and career development”. There will be a ceremony at the ACS Awards Dinner held at the Central Regional Meeting (CERM) 2024 in November of 2024 where the award will be presented to Professor Ward.
In addition to Professor Ward’s Ward, The University of Pittsburgh’s ACS Students Chapter, led by Dr. Tim Tseng, just received the Green Chemistry Student Chapter Award, which acknowledges green chemistry activities conducted by a student chapter. Only 25 student chapters, out of nearly 350 chapters around the country, successfully completed green chemistry activities throughout the year.
