October 2 Panel: Winners and Losers in the Next 2024 Election

The Department of Sociology in the Dietrich School is hosting a panel next Wednesday, October 2, on the upcoming 2024 election. Speakers include Lara Putnam, a Professor of History, Fernando Tormos-Aponte, an Assistant Professor of Sociology, and Kristin Kanthak, an Associate Professor of Political Science. The event will take place at the Center for Urban Education room, Posvar, 4th floor at 12 pm The event is sponsored by the Department of Sociology, Department of Political Science, and Pitt Cyber.
 
They will be discussing “the political dynamics amongst various social groups and political forces contesting the space in the next 2024 elections. What does it mean for these political forces, whether on the Right or Left, to win or lose in these elections? How does this advance or hinder the role of electoral politics in day-to-day social movement considerations? And what strategic steps ought organizational and political party leaders consider before getting involved in electoral politics, particularly prior to key milestones?”
