Youth Science Communication Workshop Works with Local Middle Schoolers Interested in Environmental Science

The Youth Science Communication Workshops are happening next week! The Workshops are led by Pitt faculty and students including Leanni Barreiros, an undergraduate student at Pitt, and Stephen Quigley, a professor in the Department of English who studies coding and sustainability.

“It’s always fun to explore sustainable design problems and solutions with middle schoolers. Their curiosity and creativity helps me discover new ways of understanding our built environment and new approaches for communicating this technical information to others.”

The experience is open to all middle schoolers (rising sixth graders through eighth grade). No experience is needed and the event is free. Students will explore nature in Pittsburgh and learn to gather data, explore sustainability, and basic coding skills.
