Social Sciences Postdoctoral Fellowship Job Announcement

Postdoctoral Fellowship: Inequality in the United States

The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of History invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship centered on inequality in the United States, for the academic year 2016-2017. (Renewal for a second year can be requested.) The successful applicant will become part of our thematic group on Power and Inequality, which brings together specialists on different world regions whose research explores intersections of race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, class, and global disparities.

We particularly welcome applicants whose proposed undergraduate teaching illuminates the historical experiences of racial, ethnic, or sexual minorities in the United States. Secondary affiliation and cross-teaching with Pitt’s dynamic programs in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies; Sociology; or Urban Studies will be enthusiastically supported. Specialists in Latino, African American, Asian American, or queer history are especially encouraged to apply.

The postdoctoral fellow will be matched with a faculty mentor, will present his or her work-in-progress at a departmental workshop, and will take active part in all aspects of our department’s collective life.  He or she will teach one course a semester.  For more information about the fellowship and to apply, visit: /postdoctoral-fellowship-program.
