What to Expect

Many people only learn about the Ombuds Office when they are in immediate need of assistance due to an escalating conflict or grievance.  Your initial meeting may occur after other avenues have been explored.

In a typical case, you will contact the office via our website – www.as.pitt.edu/ombuds or via email (llombud@asombuds.pitt.edu). A representative from the Office will reach out to schedule an initial consultation. We will explain the role of the ombudsperson and provide an overview of the services we provide and ask you to share your concerns and ask any questions you might have.  The discussion may end at that point if options and strategies are identified for resolution of your concern.

If you would like our office to work with you further, we will ask your permission to conduct an initial inquiry into the matter. We may consult with others in order to understand the facts of the case and School/University policies that may be applicable.
