Chad Taylor, the Artistic Director of Jazz Studies, and William S. Dietrich Chair II, was featured in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette 2024 music news round-up. Taylor formerly drummed for Iron and Wine, Chicago Underground, and more. He joined Pitt this past Spring.

Can you walk us through the process of preparing for the concert?
Summer might feel far away, but it's never too soon to plan some fun and educational trips. The Office of Global Experiences offers a two-week Lakota Perspectives Program, from the end of June into July. The trip will take place on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, in partnership with Amizade, an organization that works worldwide to create “fair trade” global education experiences, mainly for students and schools.
Transgender Awareness Week is a time to foster understanding, promote inclusivity, and celebrate the lives and contributions of transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals. This week-long event is meant to engage our community in meaningful dialogue, raise awareness about the challenges faced by the transgender community, and highlight the importance of creating a supportive and affirming campus environment. William S. Dietrich II Endowed Chair in Jazz Studies and artistic director of the Jazz Studies Program, Chad Taylor, was recently interviewed by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Taylor came to Pitt in September after being a touring musician for years. He said he came to Pitt looking to help mentor young jazz artists.
